Home learning will be linked to the learning that has taken place during the week to consolidate understanding or to introduce ideas before we cover them in class.
Home Learning Books:
Each child should bring in an A4 Home Learning book. In this book they will record their home learning and spellings. Home learning needs to be handed in on Wednesdays.
In Year 4 we expect the children to read at home at least 3 times a week. They have a reading record which needs to be dated and signed when they read at home. You can write a comment as well if you want to. We collect these records in twice a week normally on a Monday and a Friday to collate information for our reading challenges in class.
is Each term the children who read 50 times of more will have a readers treat as a reward for all their hard work with their reading. In the Autumn Term this treat is a Christmas party afternoon.
In year 4 a key Maths objective is to be able to know and use times tables all the way up to 12 x 12. Children need to know the multiplication and the division facts for example 3 x 5 = 15 15 / 5 = 3. Refer to the Maths page for ways to practice at home in fun and exciting ways.
Spellings will be in line with the children's needs and the year 3/4 spelling list from the National Curriculum. These are set on Fridays and tested the following week. We will from time to time send home details of some fun ways to learning spellings.
