Spelling Test

Ask an adult to test you on your spellings from this week.

Any spellings you get wrong in the test you should write out  3 times for extra practise.

Lesson objective: To write the build up to the BFG story including some suspense.

You may only have time to do part 1 of the lessons.  Those of you who are more confident will be able to get through both videos.

Your task will be to write the build up to the BFG making sure you include techniques of suspense writing.  This will be handed in on Teams.

Success Criteria

 

Your writing should make me feel suspense.  I want to feel excited and anxious about what might or could happen in your story.  Revisit the work you have been doing this week to help you with that.

 

Mild:

Describe feelings.

Make sure all sentences make sense.

Use adjectives you created and researched this week.

 

Spicy:

Use a range of coordinating conjunctions to create compound sentences.

Challenge yourself to use advanced vocabulary for description.

Describe Sophie's/BFG's feelings.

 

Hot:  

Use similes and metaphors to build on your description.

Use a semi colon correctly to link 2 related sentences.

We are continuing to look at the area model for multiplication today.  We will use the second part of the worksheet (from question 5).
