Phonics Lesson 41

Today's new sound is 'o' - open

In English we are looking at explanations, telling someone clearly and in order how something happens. In this series of lessons we are explaining 'How Beans Grow', which links perfectly to our new Science topic (see below).
The activity linked to today's English lesson is to design a poster. You can use any paper or the sheet below. This is today's HOT challenge. The MILD challenge is a cut and stick activity and the SPICY challenge is a drawing by copying activity.
In today's Maths, for the MILD challenge please answer question 1,  for the SPICY challenge please complete questions 1 and 2 and for the HOT challenge please complete all the questions.

Today we begin our new Science topic for this term: PLANTS

We begin by looking at planting seeds and what seeds need to grow. In school we will be planting a variety of seeds: broad bean, marigold (very short germination time so exciting to see them coming up in about 10 days) and sunflowers. If you are able to plant any seeds at home that would be fantastic but we realise you may not all be able to do so. We will plant extra in school.  You don't need an actual flower pot, a yogurt type pot with a small hole made in the base, will work perfectly. You can also look for seeds when cutting up fruit!
