Fantastic news...guitar, woodwind, string and brass lessons restart within the next week!
Woodwind - Thursday 17th September
Guitars - Monday 21st September
Strings - Tuesday 22nd September
Brass - Tuesday 22nd September
A letter about the return to lessons is being sent home and emailed but a copy is below just in case you haven't seen it!
The children will also be given timetables - a copy to keep in their classroom tray and another to take home. Again, there are copies below. The guitar timetable should also be available by the end of the week.
Due to Covid 19, instruments will need to be kept in the children's classrooms before and after their music lessons - they can't be stored in the music room itself because we need the maximum space for appropriate, safe distancing and need to ensure that nobody else touches their instrument, even in its case.
The children will wash/sanitise their hands in the classroom before and after their lesson.
The children will need to remember their lesson time - the tutors will not be able to collect them. Please can you remind them of their lesson time at home and we will try our best in school too!
Year 4 children who are keen to start an instrument?...watch this space!...
Many thanks for your patience and support! We are so excited to be starting back!
We are currently working really hard to make the necessary arrangements for instrumental lessons to restart and are very hopeful that this can be within the next few weeks - keep an eye on the website's Music page (under 'Curriculum')! The good news is that you have already paid for these in advance - any Zoom lessons your child may have received from some of the tutors during the summer were free of charge and through their goodwill to keep some sort of provision going. We are also hoping to be able to start some new Year 4 instrumentalists off on their own musical journeys at some stage - again, keep an eye on the Music page! Thank you for your ongoing support with Manadon Vale's musical tradition!
If your child is a guitarist, please can you check that their guitar is at home and not still in the music room? If it is still there, please can they collect it! At the end of last term, there were 8 beautiful guitars unclaimed! From this term, no instruments can be left in the music room, due to us needing the full space for appropriately distanced instrumental lessons. Class teachers know that the children's instruments will need to be kept in their classrooms during the day of the lesson and taken home again that afternoon. If any of the guitars are still in there at the end of next week, I shall assume they are left by ex-pupils and offer them to the guitar teacher as spares/second-hand instruments. Many thanks for your assistance with this.
We are very excited about returning to some sort of music at Manadon, even if it won't be able to look exactly the same during the current restrictions.
Our newly enlarged Harmony Choir are enjoying their rehearsals and already singing new songs with confidence and enthusiasm!
A reminder that from the third week of the spring term onwards, children's Harmony Choir attendance is being recorded as evidence of commitment to this activity. When we invite children to apply (next autumn) for the chance of a place on the 'Young Voices' 2021 trip, these will be the children who have been the most committed during the spring and summer terms of Year 5. Obviously, if children are absent from school due to illness or provide a letter confirming that they are missing a rehearsal due to illness/a medical appointment, this doesn't affect their commitment/attendance record. As a school, we feel that commitment to an activity and/or team is a life skill to encourage and promote. Thank you for supporting your child with this ethos.
Our extra-curricular Music clubs are continuing to flourish! A huge well done to the talented children involved in these.
