Maths

Today's lesson builds on the lesson from yesterday. In this lesson, we will be introduced to new 3-D shapes. We will discuss the properties of these shapes and determine how they are similar and different.

Click the red text below to find the lesson. You can complete the learning online. There is no need to submit evidence for this learning.

English

Over the next few days, for our English home learning, we are going to continue looking at the ocean inspired by our class text, The Sea Book. Had we been in school we would have been writing up our non-chronological reports up in best including images, captions, fact boxes and a bright appealing design. This week we would like us to continue this learning but with a twist! We would like you to design a poster informing your reader of the impact that humans have on the ocean. Plastic is included in this and will need to be mentioned in your poster however it is not the only impact that humans have on the ocean. You will need to do some research on what facts you can include in your poster. Luckily, we have just the thing! Below is a link to an episode of Blue Planet which is all about the impact that humans have on the ocean. Your task for the day is to watch all of this episode and take notes on what you could include in your poster. Don’t go in to too much detail in your notes, just the headlines. Also check out the WAGOLL poster below to give you an idea of what you need to do.

Have your four different designs ready in front of you. Pick which one you are going to use for your final design and write a sentence telling me why you have picked that particular design. For example:

I have chosen to make a beach bag out of an old t shirt. I have chosen to do this because I am recycling something I no longer use in to something that I can reuse. I have chosen to use different shades of blue as my colour scheme to represent the ocean and will have stencils of different sea animals patterned all over it so it is eye catching and individual to me. I will use knots to fix the bottom as they will provide a strong and sturdy base for my beach bag.

The underlined part of the paragraph above will apply to everyone. The middle section you can write independently. Once you have done this, you are going to need to start making the bag. Putting your design on it will come after this part of the process. Follow the link below for a step by step guide in how to transform your T Shirt in to a bag.

The lady on the video uses fabric scissors and removes both sleeves at the same time. You don't need to use fabric scissors just normal scissors at home, just do one sleeve at a time. Remember you can pause the video at any time to at catch up so don't feel like you have to remember it all from watching it once!

Good luck!
