To investigate homophones
In this lesson, we will investigate homophones in detail, learn what homophones are, and explore the meaning of words in depth, spotting spelling rules.
Your spellings are different to the ones in the video but they are still homophones.
Your task it to write a sentence for each word, from your spelling list, to show how it is different to the other spelling.
Write 4 sentences. That means 2 pairs of homophones from this week’s spellings.
Complete a sentence for each spelling.
Write 1 sentence that uses both versions of the homophone but still makes perfect sense. Here is an example using the homophone: knight/night
One dark, mysterious night, a knight in shining armour came hurtling down the track.
Can I multiply 3-digits by 2-digits?
Why is the zero important? What numbers are being multiplied in the first line and the second line?
When do we need to make an exchange? What happens if there is an exchange in the last step of the calculation?
