Oak academy To explore how writers make description vivid
In this lesson, we will learn read and unpick a piece of descriptive writing to explore what writers do to make their description vivid. We will then come up with a list of tools to use in our writing.
Mild challenge – Using the toolkit, underline where the writer has used vivid description
Spicy challenge – Describe your favourite character from the story using things from the toolkit.
Hot challenge – Self assess by underlining where you have used the toolkit in your writing
White Rose Maths – Children are introduced to the concept of vertical lines of symmetry. They should be exposed to examples that are
symmetrical and also examples that are not. Children use a range of practical resources (mirrors,
geoboards, paper folding) to explore shapes being halved
along their vertical line of symmetry.
