Phonics - Lesson 48

Today's new digraph is the split digraph o-e, phone home

In English today, we are going to use the story of Jack and the bean stalk to help us write an explanation text using what we we have learned in this unit about cause and effect sentences.

The activity is very short for today and will continue in Fridays lesson.  For the MILD challenge children are asked to add the conjunction (or joining) word to make the sentence make sense.  For the SPICY challenge children are asked to add the conjunction and complete the sentence.  If you wish to challenge your child further they can independently write all three sentences for a HOT challenge (there is no worksheet for the hot challenge).

In today's Maths, for the MILD challenge please answer question 1, for the SPICY challenge please complete question 2 and for the HOT challenge can your child talk about the last question: Is there more than one answer for each?
The focus for reading comprehension this week is based on chapter 7 of Roy The Singing Zebra. The same link will also take you to chapters 8 and 9 if you would like to share them with your child to finish the whole story.
